Steps to Temporary Disable Windows Defender

Step 1: Go to Settings and then choose Update and Security

Step 2: Navigate to Windows Security and then click on Virus and threat protection. 

Step 3: Now go to the sidebar and select the settings of Virus and Threat Protection. 

Step 4: Select the settings of Virus and Threat Protection. 

Step 5:  Go to the option of real time protection and toggle the protection to off.

Use Security Center to Disable Windows Defender

Go to the Security Center in order to turn off the defender for a while and not permanently. By doing so, you will be able to turn on protection whenever you feel that it is required.

Step 1: Go to the Start menu by going to the bottom left corner of the screen.

How to Use Registry to Turn Off Windows Defender?

In case you are seeking to permanently disable Windows Defender, then you need to go to registry. By doing so, you will be able to turn off the defender until you turn it back on yourself manually.

Be careful when you go for disabling Windows Defender. One mistake can cost you a lot. Therefore, you must create a backup prior to moving ahead with the process.

Step 1: Launch the Run command by pressing the Windows Key and R key simultaneously. Type in Ragedit and select Ok. A popup Window will open up that will ask you to enable the application to introduce some modifications in the device and then select Yes. 

Step 2: Copy and paste the address that is given in the search bar in the top Window. 

Step 3: Right click on the folder of Windows Defender and then click on New that is given in the drop-down menu and then select the DWORD value. 

Step 4: A new item will show up before you and the text will be highlighted. Remove the text that you see there and give it a new name of Disable Antispyware. After that, you need to select Enter. This will save the item in the folder. 

Step 5: Change the value from 0 to 1 by clicking on AntiSpyware. A Window will open up in front of you for changing the D word. Put 1 in the value data field and then selct Ok

Step 6: Reboot your Windows device for installing new edits. This will disable your Windows Defender permanently.
