Hello Guys, Please let me know how to block websites on chrome browsers? I am facing this issue last 1 month I don't know how to block it. Help me.
Certain websites constantly popup on your screen while you are doing some important work. Whenever you search for different queries at Google, you will notice that irrelevant website results interrupt your sight. It might be an online shopping ad or a news site that you don’t particularly trust. In fact, you find that Quora is unable to provide reliable answers to your questions. Whatever be the reason, there are multiple ways to block websites on Chrome browsers. In this guide, we have picked and selected a few of them for you. Have a deep check one by one.
This blocker method has its own desktop application (for both Windows 10 and macOS). Using Cold Turkey Blocker, you can work at website blocking at the granule level. It is compatible with Chrome, Firefox, and the new Microsoft Edge.
The free version of this blocker allows you to add an unlimited amount of websites to your blocklist. Additionally, you can specify the time duration for which you want to block a given site. Also, you can monitor the amount of time you spend on time-wasting websites. The default list you block websites on Chrome browsers is referred to as "Distractions” and covers a mix of social networks, movie-streaming sites, and others.
However, you have one of the best features to lock your blocks, letting you fix certain times between which you won’t be able to override the blocks to access sites or even uninstall Cold Turkey. This specific blocker service doesn’t mess around. In fact, with the paid version, you can create a password-protected block-lists, schedule blocking, and more.
UBlacklist is another user-friendly extension that block websites on Chrome browsers. Once you block selected sites, you won't find them in your Google search results. After installing the extension, there are different ways you can block websites.
Firstly, when a site shows in your search results, you’ll see the option “Block this site” next to its URL. By clicking this option, the sire won’t appear in your search results next time.
All the blocked sites can be managed by right-clicking the uBlacklist icon shown in your Chrome extension area and then clicking “Options.” Here, you can choose to unblock the sites manually, sync your list to Google Drive to use on other devices, and import your blocklist from Personal Blocklist.
Irrespective of Windows, Mac or Linux, you can use the Hosts file to block websites on Chrome browsers. The blocking process might sound techy but it’s really not that bad for those who are ready to block websites without using any third-party software. Moreover, this method is compatible with all browsers. Here are the steps to use the Hosts file to block sites on each major platform.
Hosts File in Windows
Step 1: Visit “C:WindowsSystem32Driversetc” and launch the “hosts” file using Notepad.
Step 2: Go to the bottom and under all the hash symbols (you can delete everything marked with the hash symbol), type “127.0.0.1” followed by “localhost”.
Step 3: In the next line, type “127.0.0.1” followed by the address of the site you want to block. Do this same step for every other site you want to block.
Hosts File in Linux and Mac
The complete blocking process in Linux and Mac is same as that of Windows. You just need to navigate to the “/etc” directory and open the hosts file (with superuser permission).
The advantage of this Block Site is the authentication option. Once after you set the list of blocked websites, you can add a password to the Settings page so your children are unable to access it and undo it again.
As the extension is installed, open extension settings and then add the websites you want to block. Additionally, check the “Enable Authentication” box and set the password to block access to the settings page.
StayFocusd is a great option to block websites on Chrome browsers. As the name suggests, it actually helps you to stay focused. We do waste a lot of time browsing social media websites like Facebook and others. So, this extension helps to limit the amount of time you spend on these websites (and any others of your choice).
You can set the number of days StayFocusd will monitor and restrict your browsing activity. This also includes the time you can spend per day on time-wasting websites. Another handy feature is the Nuclear option that restricts access to any blocked website even if you have not surpassed the time limit. With this, you can specify the number of hours you want to have access blocked.
Hope this guide is helpful for users to block websites on Chrome browsers.
