Next, click on the "OK” which redirects you to the main Disk Management window. Here, you will see that your disk has been labeled as “Basic” and “Online” on the left, but the contents are still “unallocated”. So, right click on the striped box showing the unallocated drive space. Lastly, select the “New Simple Volume” option.
This further launches the New Simple Volume Wizard which guides you with the process of setting up the disk. Here, you have to select how much space you want to include in the volume. By default the number given is the full amount of disk space available. So, unless you want any reserved space for additional partitions, don't change this. Now, click on the “Next” button.
As a second step, you have to assign a drive letter. By default, it's almost fine.
Finally, you can format the volume. However, if you are using the volume for routine computing tasks like storing photos, video games, etc, there’s no need to deviate from the default NTFS file system and settings. Next, you have to name your volume, click on "Next”, and let the formatting process finish.
As the process completes, you’ll see your new drive. So, finally, you are able to detect new hard drive windows 10. It's basically allocated, formatted, and ready for use from the Disk Management disk list.
