Getting connected to Wi-Fi is one of the basic requirements of any laptop user in today’s time and what if your own laptop suffers from the problem of “laptop won’t connect to WiFi”. Guys I also witnessed my laptop facing this technical snag of the laptop not getting connected to WiFi, and to resolve this I tried a few troubleshooting methods.
And guess what? I was really able to get this problem of “laptop won’t connect to WiFi” resolved. So, I share herewith all such troubleshooting methods briefly enunciated in this quick user guide that may be pretty useful for you as well.
The preliminary step is to activate your WiFi from the Internet Access panel displayed on the bottom-right pane of the taskbar. To get this done just check whether the name of your WiFi panel is appearing on the Internet access panel and that the connection of your laptop with the WiFi is in “Connection” mode.
If the option of “Connect” is getting displayed then it means your laptop has not been in pairing mode with your WiFi router. So, all you need is to simply click on the “Connect” button to cause your laptop to get connected with your WiFi router.
Another way to deal with the ”laptop won’t connect to WiFi” problem is to restart your WiFi router. You can get this done by following the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1 - Plug out all the cables from your WiFi router and modem.
Step 2 - Just wait for a few minutes.
Step 3 - Now first connect the wires to the modem and wait for two minutes.
Step 4 - Now plug the cables into the WiFi router and turn it on.
Step 5 - Again wait for a few minutes and check that your internet connection is in place.
If on following the above two methods you are not able to access the internet, just resort to restarting your laptop. This may help you fix the issue of your laptop not getting connected to WiFi.
By executing run command for your Windows Troubleshooter
Running Windows Troubleshooter could be an alternative way for fixing the problem of the laptop not getting connected with the WiFi. Just adhere to the following steps to fix this issue.
Step 1 - Click on the start button followed by opening the Settings option.
Step 2 - Now go to Update and Security wherein you will see multiple options on the left-hand side.
Step 3 - Just choose to click on Troubleshoot option.
Step 4 - Now run the troubleshooter after clicking on the Internet Options to find the real cause of your “laptop won’t connect to WiFi” problem. Please do remember to follow the instructions while the troubleshooting is underway.
Just uninstall the current set of Network Adapter by following the process mentioned herewith.
Step 1 - Press the Windows+X key simultaneously.
Step 2 - Now just expand the Network Adapter and navigate to find the specific drivers.
Step 3 - Uninstall the drivers by right-clicking on the driver and choosing the Uninstall option.
Step 4 - Restart your laptop and let the laptop automatically search and install the driver updates.
Despite following the above different troubleshooting methods if you are not able to access the internet using your WiFi, then try changing your IP address. Though this is a complex procedure and hence requires due care before being exercised.
Step 1 - Jointly press the Windows+R key.
Step 2 - In the run dialogue box that gets opened, type cmd and press Enter.
Step 3 - Now type ipconfig/release on the Command Prompt window and wait for a few minutes while the command is being executed.
Step 4 - Now again on the black screen type ipconfig/renew that will renew your WiFi’s IP address. Check if the laptop gets connected using your WiFi.
