Fix Headphone Jack Not Working on Laptop:

We need headphones to carry out various tasks. You may need it to attend a conference, zoom meeting, and for various other tasks. So, even a small problem associated with a headphone jack may hinder your work.

If your headphone jack is not working with the laptop, then you must get this problem fixed as soon as possible. Here, we have mentioned some troubleshooting techniques that you can perform to fix the headphone jack not working on laptop issue. 

Different Ways to Fix Headphone Jack not Working on Laptop -

1) Please Ensure That Your Headphone is Properly Connected

Sometimes this issue arises because of connecting the headphones to the wrong jack. This issue can simply be resolved by disconnecting the headphones from the wrong jack and then plugging them in the right jack.

Usually, the headphone jacks have a headphone symbol on them or they are colored in green. It is easy to recognize the headphone jack and connect your headphone to it. 

2) Enable Headphones 

You need to select a default audio device on your laptop if you use 2 or more audio devices. You cannot use all the audio devices at the same time. Therefore, if you want to use your headphone, you need to set it as your default audio device.

Below are the steps that you need to follow in order to enable headphones as your default audio device. 

Step 1: First of all, go to the taskbar and then click on the sound icon. After that, you need to select the sound tab from the list appearing before you. 

Step 2: Navigate to the playback tab. After that, go to the headphone device and then right-click on it. Now, choose the enable option. 

If you are a Windows 10 user, then your issue will get fixed simply by performing these two steps. In case you are still encountering the headphone jack not working on laptop issue, then try the next method. 

3) Please Ensure that the Volume is Audible 

Maybe you aren't able to hear anything because the volume is too low. Below are the steps that you need to follow in order to raise the volume to the audible level. 

Step 1: Select the sound icon given at the lower-right side of your screen. Now, click on the speaker icon to unmute your headphones. 

Step 2: If your headphones are not on mute, then increase the volume by moving the slider towards the right. 

After that, ensure that your volume is audible. Only then you will be able to listen using your headphone. 

4) Please Ensure that Your Headphone is Working

If your problem does not get fixed by applying the solutions mentioned above, then there is a possibility that your headphone is the culprit. To fix this problem, apply the steps mentioned below. 

Step 1: Try connecting your headphone to some other laptop or device and check if it's working. If your headphone is working, then that means the issue lies elsewhere. 

Step 2: If your headphones are not working on other devices as well, then that means there is a headphone problem. 

5) Try Updating the Audio Driver

An outdated audio driver can also become the cause of your problem. In such a case, you must avoid selecting and updating the audio drivers manually. You just need to follow the simple process of opening Device Manager.

After that, go to sound, video, and game controllers. Then, update the driver simply by right-clicking on the audio driver. After updating the audio drivers, your audio device will start working properly. 

6) Replace the Audio Board of Your Laptop 

A faulty audio board can also lead to this issue. If none of the above-mentioned methods are helping you out with the problem, then try replacing the audio board of your laptop. An audio board is also known as the Daughterboard. You can end all your audio-related issues just by replacing the audio board.
