Step 1 Stop Running Virus-Related Programs on Your Laptop

  • You should first press Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys simultaneously to open the dialogue box of Task Manager.

Method 2 By Operating Through the Command Prompt Option

Here in this specific method, you will have to write certain commands in the command Prompt that are listed in the below-mentioned successive steps to ultimately remove virus from the laptop.

Step 1: You should type cmd in the search box of the windows and right-click the first option so that you can “Run as Administrator”.

Step 2: Now type drive name followed by a colon without space and press Enter (For example - E:)

Step 3: Then you must type attrib –s-h-r /s /d*.* and press Enter.

Step 4: Type dir and press enter. This step will display all the files including the hidden files and directories.

Step 5: Now you must try to locate the files that are suspicious and are infecting your laptop. Ideally, such files will carry an extension like .inf or may also contain words like autorun.

Step 6: After locating the suspicious files, you must type del autorun.inf and press Enter to delete the files that are possibly in the nature of a virus.

Method 3 By Reviewing Softwares and Applications that have Recently been Installed

Many a time the add-ons related to newly installed applications may have been seriously affected by the virus that can be treated by following sequential steps discussed underneath.

Step 1: Type Settings in the search box displayed on the Task Bar. 

Step 2: Once Settings window gets opened, go to the Apps option.

Step 3: Navigate through the Apps and features segment with the objective of tracing the suspicious or unfamiliar App that may potentially contain a virus.

Step 4: Click on the Uninstall option to finally remove the virus. 

Method 4 Treating the Virus by Running the Laptop in Safe Mode

Here is an another way to remove virus from laptop without antivirus software pertaining to which the laptop is required to be run and dealt with in Safe Mode followed by adherence to below mentioned consecutive set of steps.   

Step 1: You should run your laptop in Safe Mode first.

Step 2: Now you should open System Configuration application by typing msconfig in the Search Bar and subsequently pressing Enter.

Step 3: In the System Configuration window, you must click on the Boot tab.

Step 4: Then you must check the Safe Boot option on the Boot Tab

Step 5: After you have clicked on the Safe Boot check box, you must now click on the Network radio button and should click Apply and OK.

Step 6: Now you can exit operating in Safe Mode.
