I am facing some issues while using windows 10 like disk error checking. I don't know how to fix it. If you have any idea about how to run CHKDSK in windows 10. Then give us.
If you are a Windows user, then you must have seen that the disc error checking is not the same as the earlier version of Windows. One must check the hard disk for errors from time to time as the errors may show up because of metadata corruption, corrupted software, sudden shutdowns, or some other reason.
This hard disk check practice is good as it can fix computer-related issues and enhance the performance of your Windows PC.
Below are the steps that you need to follow to run CHKDSK on your Windows 10.
Step 1: To start with the scanning process, you need to go to the drive and then right-click on it. After that, click on properties. Then, go to the Tools tab and then click on the button of Check below error checking. With this, you will be able to check the system errors.
Step 2: If the system begins to detect the errors, then you must check the disk. In case the errors don't occur, then a message will appear on the screen stating "you don't need to scan this drive". However, you have a choice to check the drive. After that, click on Scan Drive.
Step 3: This will begin the scanning process. The process is really fast and will get over within 5 minutes.
Step 4: Once the process is complete, the message will appear on your screen stating no errors found.
Step 5: In case there are any errors, then you will see a message, "Turn on your PC for repairing the file system. You can either schedule error fixing or restart it immediately.
Step 6: For running a Check Disk on your Drive through the use of the command line, type "chkdsk /f c:".
Step 7: After that, if you feel there is a need, then restart your computer.
Some changes have been introduced in the CHKDSK facility in Windows 8. The users of Windows 8 don't need to go offline for repairing corruption as they can use the new ReFS model, which doesn't require you to run the conventional CHSDSK utility.
The disc checking is done regularly for checking system file errors, lost clusters, and bad sectors. This is actually a part of automatic maintenance, so you don't have to go and run it manually.
Windows 8 also has the capability to expose the disk and file system state by going to the Drive properties in the file explorer or by going to the Action Center.
If there will be any potential errors, then you will get to know about them. After that, you can go ahead with using your computer when the scan is happening in the background. If there will be any errors, then you will get to know through a notification that will ask you to reboot your computer.
So, these are all the steps that you need to follow to run a CHKDSK in Windows 10.
