Enter the BIOS on a Windows 10 PC

There are several options available on Windows 10 that can help you configure directly on the OS but there are a few settings on every computer or laptop, which can only be changed in the basic input output system. The BIOS is a software that is a part of your computer's motherboard. It controls almost everything including media control, preboot security options and boot order of your drives.

Sadly, you will not be able to access it within the Windows as BIOS has a preboot environment. On a few old computers and the ones who are purposly created to boot slowly, you can press the function key like F1 or F2 at the time you turn on your computer, then you can enter the BIOS mode.

Nevertheless, the computers that were manufactured in the last 4 years boot Windows 10 very fast and it does not leave the time for the user to press the F key at the time of startup. In order to open BIOS on your Windows 10 computer, below are the steps that you need to perform.

How to enter BIOS on a Windows 10 PC?

Step 1: The first thing that you need to do is to go to settings and then from there you can click the gear icon given on
the Start menu.

Step 2: Chose the option of Update and Security.

Step 3: Choose recovery from the left menu

Step 4: Select the option of Restart Now given beow the Advanced startup. The PC will restart a special menu.

Step 5: Select the option of Troubleshoot.

Step 6: Select the Advanced options.

Step 7: Click on the option of UEFI firmware settings. In case you don't see the icon, then press startup settings one more time. When your computer restarts, then press the keys F1 or F2  in order to launch BIOS.

Step 8: Select Restart.

Your system will reboot and then you will enter the BIOS mode.

How to access BIOS using boot key?

In case you can't access the Windows 10 desktop or a device is used for legacy BIOS, then the firmware can be used at the time of the booting process. Mentioned below are the steps that you need to perform in order to enter the legacy BIOS or UEFI.

Step 1: First of all, press the Power key.

Step 2: After that, the key that you are required to press will appear before you on the screen. This way, you will enter the firmware mode.

Step 3: Keep on pressing the required key again and gain till the time you enter the setup mode. Generally, the keys that you are required to press are Delete, Esc or Function keys such as F1, F2. F1 etc.

Once you are done with performing all the steps, then the device will open UEFI firmware or BIOS based on the motherhood it supports. In case the details don't appear before you on the screen or the system boots very fast, then restart the device again and then when the booting will begin, press the required key reeatedly.
