Fix CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT Blue Screen Error on Windows 10-

Blue screen error can appear on Windows when a particular processor is not able to process interrupts. This issue generally occurs when the processor becomes deadlocked or unresponsive. This issue appears when the processor experiences issues with the coordination between its threads and cores.

The tasks performed by the core are called threads. One core can have many threads. The issue occurs when one thread waits for a response from another thread. You can also call it one kernel waiting for another kernel's response.

When the processor fails to process the tasks further, then that may happen because resources are occupied and are not free because of their dependence on one another. This is called a deadlock in technical terms. Now, you can resolve the Blue Screen issue so that it doesn't happen in the future again.

This CLOCK WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT bug has a 0x00000101 value. This shows an expected clock interrupt in the multi-processor system and secondary processor, which wasn't received in the allocated time period.

How to Fix the Clock Watchdog Timeout Blue Screen Error?

Below are the 4 different solutions that you can apply to fix the Clock Watchdog Timeout error. Let's discuss these solutions one by one.

Solution 1: Run Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool

Run a memory check on your system. You can begin the process by pressing the WINKEY and R button at the same time for launching the Run utility. After that, enter mdsched.exe and then press enter. The Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool will open up. Now, two options will open up before you.

Option 1: Restart now and then check for issues

Option 2: Check issues next time when I turn on the PC

After that, your PC will start detecting memory-based issues as per the option selected by you. In case there are any issues, then they will get fixed automatically. In case there aren't any issues, then that means the Clock watchdog timeout blue screen error isn't caused because of memory-based problems.

Solution 2: Disconnect the Hardware

Try disconnecting a hardware device that you connected recently. This issue can also appear if a recently installed device keeps the processor busy with many instructions like issues with driver installation. Therefore, it is best to remove such devices and check if it fixes your problem or not. In case you get to know that a specific device is causing this issue, then you must check if its latest driver is compatible with your system or not.

Solution 3: Try Troubleshooting in a Clean Boot State

You can easily troubleshoot by performing a clean boot. A clean boot turns your system on with the least startup programs and drivers. When you turn on your PC in clean boot, the computer starts turning on with the least drivers and startup programs. As minimal drivers are being used, you may find that some programs are not working at all.

Clean boot enables you to separate performance issues. For performing clean boot troubleshooting, you must disable or enable a process at a time. Then, reboot your PC. In case the issue gets resolved, then that means a process was leading to this issue.

Solution 4: Update BIOS

BIOS is a sensitive software component of your PC. The functioning of the hardware depends on it. Therefore, you must be careful while making any changes in the BIOS. It is advisable not to go for this solution if you aren't aware of how to proceed with the process.

You can easily update the BIOS, then press the WINKEY and R buttons concurrently to launch the run box. After that, you need to enter msinfo32 and then press the Enter key. This will open up system details for you. In the end, you will see a search field, and there you must search for a BIOS version and then press enter. Now, you will view the developer and version of BIOS installed on your system.

After that, go to the website of the manufacturer and download the latest BIOS version on your system. In case you are using a laptop, then keep it connected to a power source till the BIOS update gets installed.

Open the file you just downloaded and install the latest version of the BIOS update. When this gets over, then restart your PC for bringing changes into effect. Restart your PC after the installation is over.
