How to Fix Windows 10 Update Error 0x8007000d?

Hello Guys, Please let me know how to fix Windows 10 Update Error 0x8007000d? I don't know how to fix it. I tried many times but unable to fix it. So can anyone have any idea?

This error 0x8007000d code means that this update needs a file but it is either missing or damaged. This is not going to let you install any updates for any drivers or Windows. Also, it is not going to let you upgrade Windows 10 in case a better version is available. This issue can be caused because of broken or corrupt drivers.

Solution 1: Use Compatibility Troubleshooter

If windows update error 0x8007000d occurs while you try to install a particular driver, then you may be able to fix the problem by using a compatibility troubleshooter with that driver.

The steps to use the troubleshooter are quite easy to perform and are given below. 

Step 1: Launch the file Explorer and press the E and Windows key simultaneously and go to the folder where the setup for your driver is located. 

Step 2: Now, select your setup file and right click on it and then select Troubleshoot Compatibility. 

Step 3: After going to the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter, select the option of Troubleshoot Program. 

Step 4: After that, click on the driver-related problems that you are dealing with and then select Next

Step 5: Select the earlier version of Windows where you think the driver can function.

Step 6: After that, select Next and then choose the option of Test the Program. 

Step 7: Now, run the setup like you would normally do and if everything goes as it is supposed to, then click on Yes, save these settings for this program. Or else, you can go ahead with the next method. 

Solution 2: Reset the Windows Update Components Manually

Resetting Windows updates can fix many issues associated with it and this issue is one of them. Therefore, you must try this method. 

Step 1: Press the Windows key and X key simultaneously by going to the menu that is given at the lower left corner. 

Step 2: Now go to the Command Prompt and then enter the commands given below and press enter after every command in order to execute them. Please make sure that you don't make any typing mistake as doing so can lead to more problems instead of fixing the issue. 

  • net stop bits
  • net stop wuauserv
  • net stop apidsvc
  • net stop cryptsvc

Step 3: Now in the next step, you are required to delete the qmgr*.dat. You can do it from the command prompt. All you have to do is to enter the command below and then press Enter to execute it. 

  • Del “%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat

Step 4: Now that you are still on the command prompt Window, enter the command to enter the System 32 folder where you will be required to re-register your BITS file one more time. Also, you will have to re-register Windows update file. That command is cd /d %windir%\system32. type this command and then hit enter in order to execute it. 

Step 5: Now, enter the necessary command to reset the BITS and Windows Update files. 

Step 6: Enter netsh Winsock reset in the command prompt and then press enter to execute it. 

Step 7: Enter netsh winhttp reset proxy for resetting the proxy 

Step 8: Restart all the services that you stopped earlier with the commands given below. 

  • net start bits
  • net start wuauserv
  • net start apidsvc
  • net start cryptsvc

Step 9: Now, restart your computer, and then your problem will get fixed. 

This error appears on the screen when someone tries to run Windows update on his or her device and no matter what you try to download after that will lead to failure only. This is very unsettling as the whole idea of launching Windows 10 was to provide Windows as a service with regular updates.

This will not allow the users to take benefit of various functions. Moreover, they will not be able to take advantage of security update feature that Microsoft offers now and then.
