With the advancement in technology, the user’s storage capacity has also increased. Earlier there weren’t many options to store huge data. To accommodate this problem of storing data, DVD was an option that came into the market. DVD had storage of approximately 4.7 GB.
This was a feasible option decades ago but now 4.7 GB storage seems very less. To enhance storage capacities, Blu-ray discs were launched. The lower wavelength of blue color enables the blu-ray discs to accommodate about 25 GB of data. Now the problem that many users face is the unavailability of driver play Blu-ray Discs on Windows 10.
So here we have listed some sure-shot ways to run the Blu-ray Discs on Windows 10.
VLC player is in-built in almost all computer systems irrespective of the operating systems. It is very similar to the Windows Media Player and runs all formats of music and video. But the catch is, even if you have or install a VLC media player, it isn’t able to play Blu-ray Discs on Windows 10.
So these are the steps you could follow and make sure the Blu-ray disc runs smoothly on your system.
Step 1: After installing or opening the VLC media player, open your file explorer and open the C drive. Navigate to the program data folder.
Step 2: Create a new folder with the name AACS.
Step 3: Download KEYDB.cfg from the vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name site to this folder.
Step 4: Now download the libaacs.dll file from the vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name site to your VLC folder.
Step 5: Insert the Blu-ray disc in your drive and run it on the system.
Step 6: Open VLC media player, click on media, and select the open disc option from the drop-down menu.
Step 7: From the option available select blu-ray radial, check the box for no disc menus, and select your disc from the device field menu.
Step 8: Finally, click on play.
If you feel the previous step is too long, another shortcut method is to convert the Blu-ray disc to mkv format. The process that follows is ripping and encoding. The process is automated and does not require much effort or time.
Here’s how you can convert and play Blu-ray Discs on Windows 10.
Step 1: Open the official site of MakeMkv on your browser.
Step 2: Select the option MakeMKV 1.14.5 for windows.
Step 3: Download the MakeMKV and wait for it to install.
Step 4: After installing, launch the set-up.
Step 5: Click on the File option and from the drop-down menu click on the Open Disc option.
Step 6: Select the Blu-ray disc you want to run on your computer.
Step 7: Click on yes and select the icon with an arrow pointing towards a disc in the MKV section.
Step 8: A pop-up will appear to create a file that does not exist. Click on Yes.
Step 9: Wait for the conversion to complete and your disc is ready to run on a media player like VLC.
With these two methods, you can easily run Blu-ray discs on your Windows 10 operating system.
