Safely Overclock CPU on Windows 10:

One of the best ways to speed up your computer is to overclock your CPU. This method will allow you to save money that you may end up spending on an upgrade. If you wish to learn how to safely overclock a CPU then read on.

Is It Possible to Overclock Every CPU?

Before you move on with the process to overclock a CPU, you must know that you can't overclock every processor. One way to determine whether you can overclock your CPU or not is to read the name of your CPU. If there is a letter K at the end of the name of your processor like Intel Core i7 9700K, then this CPU can be overclocked.

The processors from the "X" series of intel can also be overclocked. In case you are using an older model then run a "Google Search" to check whether you can overclock your CPU or not. To tell you the truth, every CPU can be overclocked.

This can be achieved by raising the base clock. Just because you can overclock a CPU doesn't mean you should as pushing the technology may lead to stability issues.

Determine the Temperature of Your CPU's Core

Before you begin the process, you must check the temperature of your CPU. This is important because when you overclock your CPU. the temperature increases.

Perform a System Stress Test

If you are serious about a CPU overclock, then you must stress test your CPU. Please make sure that your current system is stable under the default clock speed.

When you conduct this test, you need to check the temperature of your CPU again as this process is going to put a 100% load on your CPU core. Let the speed test run for an hour or two.

Check the Performance of Your CPU

Another thing that you need to do before you proceed with Overclocking your CPU is to check the current speed of your CPU. You can use the Cinebench tool to check the current performance.

Open Cinebench, run it on your computer, and once the rendering is done, you will see your present score. Note down the score as you may require it later to compare the score.

Access BIOS

To overclock your processor, change the settings in your computer's BIOS. It contains the key settings of your computer. To access BIOS mode, you are required to restart your computer. While the PC is restarting, press the F2, F10, or Delete key again and again.

Now, the BIOS control screen will open up before you. The key combination may differ from brand to brand. Now, a message will appear on your screen that says "press F2 to enter setup. Now, you will see text like Overclocking or Advanced CPU Core Settings. This is where you overclock your CPU. You can either overclock manually or automatically.

Adjust CPU Multiplier

Firstly, you are required to increase the multiplier to increase the clock speed. You need to increase the multiplier step by step. You can easily do this by entering a number or by using the + key on your keyboard. Speed up your PC.

If everything goes well, then speed up your PC a little more. First, increase the multiplier of one core and then move on with others. Overclocking more cores can cause more instability. Save the settings and then restart your computer.
