Please let me know that what is Akamai NetSession client? Should i remove it. I am facing some issues in this while doing this. Help me.
When you try to download a large piece of software or an application from the Internet, the Akamai NetSession Client comes into action. The client, which comes pre-installed on your PC or packed with the product you're installing, claims to improve download speed and reduce download time.
As a result, numerous software and media providers use the program to send files or streams to you. Many people are unaware of it and hence have concerns about how it works.
It isn't obvious that we frequently check the License Agreement's "I agree" box without fully reading it. So, if it comes packaged with software, we unintentionally install it and later mistake it for a virus.
Akamai is a download manager that enables consumers with sluggish Internet connections to slowly download large files. Its developer claims:
NetSession Interface has been developed to run in the background on your machine with minimal impact on memory, CPU capacity, or disk space. Its goal is to increase the speed, reliability, and efficiency of downloads and streams while being secure and not invading your privacy or computing.
The NetSession Interface was created to increase download and stream speed, reliability, and efficiency. It does not infect your computer with malware, adware, or a virus, but it does monitor some parts of your usage, which some people may find objectionable and desire to uninstall.
The legitimate file can be located under the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Akamai folder. If it's in a different folder, it's likely malware, and you should perform an antivirus scan straight away.
NetSession only uses your computer while it is ‘idle' or using minimum network resources, according to the system's creators. This means it can continuously monitor your network activity and report that data to Akamai. You can have the Akamai NetSession Client removed if you don't like it.
If you want to see what happens if you remove the NetSession interface, you may do so easily. It will, however, be interrupted if it is downloading or streaming data to your computer. To resume, you may need to restart your computer.
Open Control Panel > Akamai NetSession Interface applet > System Preferences to temporarily disable NetSession. Select the Preferences to tab from the drop-down menu. Click the Stop button under Service.
You might also use Task Manager to put a stop to it. Find the netsession_win.exe process and terminate it. To begin, press Ctrl+Shift+Esc. To remove Akamai NetSession, go to Control Panel > Programs & Features and uninstall Akamai NetSession Interface from there.
If it doesn't work, open a command prompt in the installation mentioned above folder and type the following:
admintool.exe uninstall –force
Although it is still in use, Akamai's days are numbered as more people worldwide have high-speed broadband connections and fast browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. They are thought to be a better approach for dealing with large files because they can download a 1.5 GB file in under 20 minutes.
