Has your pc been acting up lately? Is it too slow or do you see unwanted pops that you have no idea about how to deal with? There is a good chance that this might be a result of some hardware issue but the first thing that you must check is if there is any virus or malware infecting your pc even if you already have antivirus software on your system.
Malicious software that threatens the performance of your device and the safety of your data is called malware. There is a long list of these kinds of malware some of them are Virus, Backdoors, Rootkits, Spyware, Keyloggers, Grayware, Worms, Phishing, Trojan horse, Ransomware, etc.
To ensure better performance of your device follow these simple steps to scan and make your pc virus-free.
Note: Before you start scanning you must make sure that your pc is not connected to the internet and save all the running files and then close them.
Step 1: Go to the security settings of your windows.
Step 2: click on Virus and threat Protection and the Scan Option.
Step 3: Click the Window defender offline scan option and click on Scan. This process takes about 15 mins and then your device will restart.
To view the outcomes of the scan, follow the same steps till Virus and threat protection and then click on protection history. This window defender scans any kind of malware or virus and removes them from your device.
Another way to scan for malware on windows 10 is mentioned below. You can use either of these
Step 1: Saftey Mode
This mode only loads minimus required programs. Entering into Saftey mode prevents any malware to enter your pc which opens right after you start your pc. To enter safe mode click the start button and select the power button the same as if to reboot the system. Now Long press shift button and click on Reboot.
After the full-screen menu appears on the screen click on Troubleshooting>Advanced Options>Startup Settings. Now click on restart option on the new window. This might take a few minutes. Now a menu with different options appear. Click on number 4 i.e. The Safe mode.
After your pc restarts and it seems to be faster that means that your system is infected with malware.
Step 2: Remove files
Now run a virus scan as mentioned earlier but before that delete any temporary file
Step 3: Malware Scanner
The real-time scanner is the one that most people are already aware of. It runs in the background and watches any malware from entering the device. Blocks pop-ups and warn you about the risk if you are visiting any website that is unsafe. The real-time scanner must be there in every pc. The other one is called on-demand scanner.
This one requires you to manually scan your pc from time to time. The real-time scanner is good but you can have both the scanners just to ensure if one misses something the other one can take care of it.
Note: No anti-virus software can detect all the malware, viruses and spyware considering there are many kinds.
Step:4 Secure your web-browser
Has it ever happened that you are trying to work and these annoying ads keep popping up out of nowhere? Your web search engine changes on its own? Therefore before you start your browser go to the settings and check them.
But if even after all this your pc is still giving you a headache you might have to reinstall the Windows operating system again. Backup all your data in pen-drive or hard-disk before deleting everything from the hard-disk of your pc. After this re-install the windows.
Step 5: Clean PC
Ensure that real-time anti-virus software is always running and is up-to-date. Run manual scans on your pc from time-to-time. Do not click on pop-ups. And check your folders from time to time.
Follow these simple steps to scan for malware on Windows 10 and ensure that your device is malware-free.
