If you are a user of Windows 10, then fret not as this black screen can appear because of various reasons and does not always indiacte a technical complication. This black screen can appear at the time of Updates, installations and can happen randomly as well. At times, the screen
gets completely dark and nothing appears on it. However, there are times when you see a mouse cursor moving around but nothing else shows up on the screen.
Nonetheless, if you wish to identify the cause of the issue and how to fix the same, then take a look at the most effective solutions listed below.
You can come across this black screen of death issue for the first time at the time of Windows 10 installation. This error can also occur after the completion of the installation process. Stated below are some of the causes that can lead to thiserror during or after installation.
Cause 1: Setup is hung up. Whatever might the reason be, the setup process is stuck and can't go further.
Cause 2: Take a look at the hard drive carefully and determine whether your PC is working or not. In case your LED light is still flashing, then that means the setup process is going on and it is taking time in sorting through all the files. If this is why the black screen is appearing, then you need to wait a little longer for everything to get back to normal. In case the setup continues for 2 to 7 hours, then that may be because it is stuck.
Stated below are the steps that you need to perform to resolve the issue of black screen of death that occurs during or
after installation.
Step 1: Turn off your computer system. In case it does not shut doen, then hold down the ppower button for at least 5 to 10 seconds till the moment it shuts down.
Step 2: Turn off the internet by disconnecting the ethernet wire or by unplugging the adapter.
Step 3: Disconnect every other periepheral connections from your computer. Remove the phone chargers, game controllers and external hard drives. lmost everything attached excep mouse and keyboard.
Step 4: Disconnect the power wire of your computer from the power source. In case you are using a laptop, then remove the battery as well. Wait for the next 30 seconds and then reconnect the power wire of your system to the electrical outlet. If you have some spare time then let the power wire remain disconnected for upto an hour. This is going to help you a lot if your system gets overheated.
Step 5: Connect your computer system to the power receptacle once again. Also, don't get connected to the internet yet.
Step 6: After that, Windows will resume the setup procedure.
Step 7: Once the installation gets completed normally, then Windows desktop will be displayed in front of you. After that, you can reconnect to the internet to apply the updates.
Step 8: In case the setup goes back to the previous version of Windows, then try to update using an ISO file.
Random black screens can appear because of driver updates, security fixes, patches and Windows updates. Most of the times, these updates are downloaded at the night time in the background, which can display a black screen. If you wish to manage which update to install and when, then you can do that as well. In case you are already dealing with one, then you can fix your problem by booting your computer in safe mode.
A corrupt user file can also lead to black screen. By starting your computer in safe mode, you can make a new user account. Then, maybe things will work after signing in.
The RunOnce process can also lead to this issue. In case a black screen appears before you after logging in, then press the keys Ctrl+Shift+esc on your keyboard and then the task manager will open up. After that, navigate to the Processes and Servies tab. Then, search for the instances RunOnce.exe or RunOnce32.exe. In case any of these are running, then end the process.
Go to File and then Run new task, after that type cmd and then press enter. In the command prompt enter shutdown -r -t 01.
After that, press enter and then your computer will restart.
