Speed Up Windows 10 Startup:

Several users of Windows 10 have reported the problem of slow startup. This problem generally arises when one uses the computer continuously for a long duration or when the PC is old. Here in this article, you are going to read about 3 different tricks that you can use to speed up Windows 10 startup.

1) Use the Fast Startup Feature

Windows 10 has an inbuilt setting particularly designed to speed up startup. The name of this feature is fast startup feature. This is going to prepare your computer for the next time you startup so that you can start your work as early as possible.

When you enable this setting on shutdown, it will save the state of your system, which includes open drivers and programs.

It will preload the details, so when you’ll power on your computer system again, it will speed up the booting up process. So, these are the steps that you need to follow for fast startup.

a) Launch Power Options

In order to launch power options, you first need to go to the Start menu and click on Control Panel and then launch the Desktop app. Sort by large icons and then you will select Power Options. To speed up Windows 10 startup, you need to either select high performance or balanced plan. Don’t choose the power saver plan.

b) Choose What the Power Button does

On the left of your screen, you will see the option of Choose what the power button does. Click on that option.

c) Unlock Control

After that, you will reach the screen, where you will have to change the settings. Many a time these settings are locked. To unlock these settings, all you need to do is to select the option of ‘change settings that are currently unavailable’. If your shutdown settings are locked, then you must unlock them using admin control.

d) Enable “Fast Startup”

The first option below the Shut Down pull-down menu is ‘Turn on fast startup menu’. Please ensure that you have selected this option and you should notice faster boot times.

2) Open Fewer Programs

If your personal computer is still taking a lot of time in booting up, then that maybe because it automatically opens several applications when you turn it on. In case your system opens several programs automatically, then it will take more time in getting started. To prevent Windows from opening certain programs during startup, these are the steps that you need to carry out.

How to Start a Few Programs on Startup?

a) Launch Task Manager

Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to launch Task Manager. You can also open it by right-clicking on the taskbar. Another way to launch Task Manager is by pressing Alt+Ctrl+Del.

b) Open Startup Tab

After opening Task Manager, click on the fourth tab in your Task Manager. Launch it to see all the startup processes.

c) Disable Unnecessary Programs

On the startup page, you will be able to see certain programs, which take a lot of time during startup. If you don’t want any program to get opened automatically, then select it and then disable it. After disabling unnecessary programs, you will experience a significant improvement in the startup speed.

3) Delete Unnecessary Files

By cleaning up your hard drive, you will be able to speed up the Windows 10 startup. Additionally, it enables you to operate your computer more smoothly and easily. To clean up your files, you can either manually delete the files that you don’t require or you can do Disk Cleanup.

For running Disk Clean up, look for it and then launch it by clicking on ok. In case you have never used disk cleanup feature before, then you will get surprised to see the cleaning capacity of your PC.

Select the option of ‘Clean up system files’ and then the program will run a scan on your computer and will remove all the temporary installers, files, and other unnecessary stuff.

In order to uninstall a particular program from your system, these are the steps that you need to follow:

  • Go to the start menu and right-click on it.
  • Click on Control Panel
  • Select programs
  • Click on ‘Uninstall a program’
  • Select the programs that you don’t require and click on “Uninstall”.

So, these are a few methods that you can use to speed up Windows 10 startup.
