Is there anyone who knows about how to stop Skype From starting automatically on Windows 10. I am facing some issues while doing this. Help me.
One of the most widely used video conferencing apps on Windows 10 is Skype. The performance and functionality have considerably improved over time. However, one persistent issue with Skype is that it consumes more system resources than it should under Windows 10. Unfortunately, Skype defaults to immediately opening and running in the background when you install it on Windows 10.
This may not be an issue if you have a strong enough PC. However, if your pc is slowing down or using a lot of CPU, you'll want to look into how to Stop Skype From Starting Automatically on Windows 10.
Disabling Skype as background software on your system is one approach to prevent it from running when your computer starts up. This can be done in the System Settings menu.
Step 1: Select the Start button, type Settings into the search box, and then choose the Settings App.
Step 2: Select Privacy from the System Settings window.
Step 3: Scroll down the left navigation menu in the Privacy settings window until you locate the App permissions section. Under this area, select Background applications.
Step 4: Scroll down to Skype in the Background applications section and flip the Skype toggle button to Off.
Skype will be disabled on startup if you disable it under background apps. As a result, when you turn on your computer, Skype will no longer launch. This includes the ability to start in the background. You may launch Skype from the Start menu, just like any other app, if you need to hold a video conference.
Removing Skype from the Startup folder is another way to prevent it from starting up when the machine boots. All of the applications that will run when the machine starts are stored in the Startup folder.
Step 1: Pick Start, type Startup, and then select Startup Apps.
Step 2: Scroll until you see Skype in the Startup list. To stop Skype as a startup app, change the toggle switch to Off.
Step 3: When you disable this, Skype will no longer startup when you turn on your computer.
From within the software, you may also set Skype not to start automatically. This option can be found in Skype's General settings.
Step 1: Start Skype and log in. To the right of your Profile image, select the three dots. From the menu, choose Settings.
Step 2: From the left navigation menu, choose General. Automatically start Skype is located on the right side of the Startup and Close section. Select the Settings button to the right of this.
Step 3: This brings up the same Startup settings box that you used to change the Skype startup status in the previous section. Scroll down to Skype's entry and flip the toggle to Off.
Step 4: Skype will no longer start up automatically when you turn on your computer.
You may have noticed that there were a lot of other settings under the Startup and Close section of the Skype General settings. These other options have an indirect impact on how and when Skype works on your Windows 10 PC.
Let's look at these two options in more detail.
Launch Skype in the Background: This is similar to starting Skype automatically, except that the application will not open in a new window. Instead, Skype will start up and then minimize itself.
The only way you'll know it's operating is if the Skype icon appears in the notification area. If you don't disable this, Skype will still run automatically, so make sure you disable it if you don't want it to.
On Close, Keep Skype Running: This is another deceptive setting because if you leave it enabled, you may wonder why Skype continues to run in the background after closing the window. The Skype icon is still visible in the notification section. You should also turn off this toggle switch if you want Skype to stop automatically starting and staying running.
If you've updated these settings and quit Skype, but it's still running in the notifications section, you may need to quit it again before it stops automatically launching. To do so, locate the Skype icon in the notification area and right-click it to bring up a menu.
There will be no notification or warning. The Skype icon in the notification area will vanish. When this happens, you know the App isn't running in the background anymore.
