1) Close the Tabs that You are not Using

If you find any unused tabs on your browser, then you must close them. There is a chance that those unused tabs are eating your memory. Therefore, you must close the tabs that you are not using. This will surely reduce down the RAM usage.

2) Run an Antivirus Scan

This issue can also occur because of adware or malware. Therefore, you must run an antivirus scan so that your browser stops using so much memory. You can run a scan by using the freeware given in the list below.

3) Allow Hardware Acceleration

After that, you need to launch Google Chrome again. Now, you need to enter chrome://gpu/ in the location bar of your browser and then press Enter. Then, you will see GPU Rendering or hardware acceleration is disabled or enabled.

4) Disable or Remove Browser Extensions

5) Reinstall or Reset your Chrome Browser

If you wish to reset Google Chrome, then you need to ensure that the browser is not running in the background. For that, you need to close the browser by going to Task Manager.

When you reset your Google Chrome, then your Homepage, Search Engine, pinned tabs, new tab page will reset to default mode. Moreover, themes, add-ons, and extensions will get disabled. Plus, the content settings will be reset. Furthermore, the site data, cache, and cookies will be removed.

Below are the steps that you need to follow in order to reset Google Chrome.

Step 1: Press the Windows key and R key simultaneously and then launch Run. Now, you need to enter "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Google \Chrome\User Data.

Step 2: After that, choose the folder named Default and then press Shift and Delete key combinations. After that, select Yes to confirm the Prompt.   

Step 3: Once you are done deleting the Default folder, then launch Google Chrome and select the menu button with three vertical dots.

Step 4: After that, go to Settings. Now, go to Advanced section under Settings. This will reveal Advanced Settings.

Go down to the button of Restore settings to their original defaults and then select it. This will reset your Google Chrome browser.
